What was the Derrybrien Wind Farm Project?

Derrybrien Wind Farm, which ceased commercial operations in 2022, included the erection of 70 turbines, all associated construction works, including the works that were undertaken in response to the peat slide (in 2003), the overhead power line and Agannygal substation which connects the site to the national electricity transmission system.

About ESB

At ESB, we have been Ireland's foremost energy company since our establishment in 1927.

We are a strong, diversified utility operating right across the electricity market: from generation, through transmission and distribution, to supply. We also work in other related sectors where we can make a difference, including telecommunications, electric vehicle charging, home retrofits and more.

We believe in the power of wind energy and the potential it has to help deliver a net zero future for society. From our first 5MW wind farm in Crockahenny, Co Donegal in 1998 we have developed an onshore wind asset portfolio that has the capacity to supply almost 850MW of clean energy in Ireland and the UK.
